Happy May Day! I will be working on my Queen of May journal page today and will post it later this week. Here is what wikipedia has to say about May 1st:

"May Day is May 1, and refers to any of several holidays celebrated on this day. May 1 was a traditional summer holiday in many pre-Christian European pagan cultures, and many elements of these holidays are still celebrated on May 1 today, such as the Maypole. While February 1 was the first day of Spring, May 1 was the first day of summer: hence, the summer solstice on June 25 (now the 22nd) was "midsummer. The earliest May Day celebrations appeared in pre-Christian Europe, as in the Celtic celebration of Beltane, and the Walpurgis Night of the Germanic countries. Although the pagan-oriented celebrations faded as Europe became Christianised, a more secular version of the holiday continued to be observed in the schools and churches of Europe well into the 20th century. In this form, May Day may be best known for its tradition of dancing the Maypole and crowning of the Queen of the May. Today many Neopagans, especially Wiccans, celebrate reconstructed versions of the old pagan holidays on May 1."

  1. Your blog idea is beautiful Sheri. I have been looking for some gals to stay inspired with as the inspiration comes and blogging is such a perfect way to do that. No deadlines, no networking(not today, anyway)It is not to not “sell” myself or be mindful of what I say to make a good impression when needed, but to just “flow and go” and it makes writing for me-relaxing. Blogs rule!
I love May as well. Today I referred to myself a few times in my mind as a Queen. A little silliness and a title! I was the Wind Queen on my walk around the block. I was the Compost Queen when I popped out the back door to empty my scrap bucket. I ate so much today, but never mind, it is always a good sign I am eating healthy if it is something I can compost…..
Tonight I am going to be The taking a bath as long as I dang well please, Queen. I have some new bath salts and some good music lined up already. My good friend, Jenn Riffle has brought me a new book to read called, “Eat,Pray,Love” by Elizabeth Gilbert. I thought I was already the Queen of all that but I guess there can be two!
Keep up the blogging, I love it!
