Everyday bliss,Bliss-30 challenge,creative awakenings

Yes,
you’re right, I’ve run this card before, but I am already hearing from
clients how stressed they are feeling with the seasons events. So, with
the holi-DAZE upon us, I am inviting you to dive into the 30-day Bliss
Challenge. No, this is not intended to be one more TO-DO. It’s
intention is to offer you a place of bliss, rejuvenation and a little
YOU time.

In the tradition of Advent 1. the period of
expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration, 2. starting the
fourth Sunday before December 25; in other words…RIGHT NOW.

What’s
the Bliss-30 Challenge? Every day for the next 30 days, you are to
engage in some form of Everyday Bliss. What’s that? Here is an excerpt
from the book:

“Everyday Bliss is about process, not product or
outcome. Think about things you love or once loved to do that have
fallen by the wayside….Each day, take twenty minutes for yourself,
doing something that brings you only joy and renews your spirit. Mix it
up. Try Everyday Bliss at different times of the day to see which time
resonates most with you.”

“Here are some examples of Everyday
Bliss actions: a spontaneous painting or drawings at the beginning of
the day, a quick poem, a fifteen-minute yoga workout, dancing to music
cooking from a favorite cookbook. Or try my personal favorite, a
“daydream meditation,” where you let your dreams flow onto your paper,
using your non-dominant hand…”

You can read more about Everyday Bliss on page 118 in the Creative Awakenings book.

  1. Hey Sheri! I had already half way committed to this challenge on the CA discussion board, so thanks for giving me the extra push to start. This will also help with my desire to keep my blog current. Surely if I can post a short blog about my Everyday Bliss for 30 days then I can keep the momentum going after the first of the year. Thanks!

  2. Hi Sheri,
This is a great idea. I particularly like the Daydream Meditation…that may come natural to me! 🙂 And I think we all do need to stop and focus on the process, rather than the product/outcome. Doing so really just serves to stress us out.
    Best,
    Alicia

  3. I am in!!!
This is a GREAT activity for the holidays. Take your bliss as seriously as you take everything else in your life. With that said, I put my daily bliss action as one of my main priorities each day and….I had such a transformative experience. A lot more giggles were flying around just after a few days. YAHOOO!
    I’m up for more!!!

  4. This is a great month for me to do this. As I am always mega-stressed during December.

  5. Wish I could but time for myself does not exist. See how I’m already 3 days behind in even reading the email this came in? For me, just getting my mom to take her meds and supplements and drink more water is a major accomplishment!

  6. Thank you,
    This comes right on time!!
I commit to the bliss challenge and
I will see who I can get to join me.

  7. I’m up for the challenge!
While I keep my livejournal blog current on a semi-daily basis I’ve neglected my typepad blog where I post my daily thoughts and happenings, and I’ve sadly neglected my Creative Awareness blog. Blogging gives me joy. I love to write and blogging brings me a sense of bliss. I manage to find time to blog each day even when I can’t get out my art supplies.
Heading into the holiday season brings all kinds of busy-ness that eats up time, but I am working on some major lifestyle changes and taking time for myself to rejuvenate is one of them that I’m making.

  8. Count me in. I’m not even behind as I totally blissed out in my studio yesterday because I was so excited to celebrate the new month. Here’s to 29+ more days of bliss.

  9. Excellent idea! I’m in!
Dec 1–i cuddled up on the couch and reread (one of) my abandoned novels in progress. It was enough to get me re-energized (i even liked some of it!). then i went to a writer’s meeting (when i “should” have been cleaning-i am making pals with the dust bunnies instead) that was awesome. Love my writing buddies! A couple of new writers showed up so i got to meet them too.
Dec 2. Re-reading another abandoned novel (there are way too many of these!) then i will take my niece to her singing lesson and listen to her sing and bask in a completely different kind of creativity. Bliss indeed!

  10. Hi Sheri,
A couple of months ago, I started creating small quotes of positive aspects and coloring them-just for fun. My way to bliss everyday. Then I started a new blog to post my pages from a previous journal page or the new ones. I post everyday, so I have to keep them coming:) http://www.kathyannewhite.blogspot.com
My positive aspects have nothing to do with making goals, or a to do list, just pure goofing off.
In reality I have noticed how much better my days are going. I even packed a little lunch box case to carry dyed watercolor pages and pens to doodle on- the-go.
So bliss will evolve daily through Dec and beyond. This is quick easy and just plain joyful!!!
So I’m in for Dec and beyond!!!

  11. Every day Bliss. Couldn’t comment without being a member of Type Pad. My first entry was deleted, so I’m starting over. Took a two-week vacation from on-line. Today is the first move out into cyber space. Guess I started Every Day Bliss two weeks early. Each time is a learning curve. Hope this works.

  12. this comes at a good time for me as stress is high and it’s my favorite month. this will help to keep me in the spirit! 🙂

If you have a Holiday Bliss Tip or Ritual that you would like to share, please write a little article and I will post you as a guest author here and on my blog.
The only “rule,”-yes you know how much I dislike that word-is that it has to be something that adds simplicity to your holiday season…or BLISS.
Please send your brief article, along with a small jpeg, your full name, and a link to your site, to me at feistyfemales@gmail.com.
    Ho Ho ho…sheri

  15. This is really exciting. I love that we are holding the energy and intention of a peaceful holiday together. Accountability works!

  16. Hi Sheri,
I am in for the challenge, sounds like a blast. Could you email a badge, thanks so much.
    Julia.

  17. The day you issued this invitation I had bought a Sizzix die that says “Bliss”. A coincidence?…maybe but I’m in! I don’t have a web site but I’ll follow along. Vicki

  18. Vicki this is PERFECT! There are no coincidences. Happy to have you join us. Let us know how it’s going and if you are a member of the Salon, you can get support there too.

  19. I wasn’t sure I wanted to commit to this officially, but decided to just go for it. I know for sure I’ll need the “bliss breaks” in the coming month.

  20. I try every year to bliss ride through the holidays and of course I always seem to create an avalanche with too much.
So I am ready to commit to this challenge.
